I Am Brampton is a registered non-profit NGO founded in 2019 to serve every Bramptonian — through advocacy, governance, settlement support, and direct community feeding.
Born from a need to serve Brampton
I Am Brampton (IMB) was founded in 2019 by a group of community-minded individuals who saw a growing gap between the challenges Bramptonians faced and the support available to them. Newcomers arriving in the city needed guidance. Residents needed civic representation. Families needed food.
So we built an organization that does all three. From our first day, IMB has been committed to the betterment of every Bramptonian — regardless of background, language, or circumstance. We create awareness, drive political engagement, support settlement, and show up every single day to feed 200 members of our community.
As a non-profit, every dollar we raise goes directly back into the community we serve. We are governed by five elected board members, accountable to our membership, and driven by one simple belief: Brampton deserves better, and we are going to help build it.

Social & humanitarian
Supporting residents through social programs and humanitarian assistance in everyday community life.
Political engagement
Raising civic awareness and highlighting the importance of voting for every resident of Brampton.
Settlement services
Guiding newcomers through their settlement in Brampton with practical resources and community support.
Who can join
All Pakistani organizations and individuals living in Brampton who are interested in the purpose of this organization are eligible for membership. Classes of membership and fee structures are set at the discretion of the Board of Directors

Annual fee
A flat $10 fee is required for membership, regardless of class. Set by the Board of Directors.

Membership year
The membership year runs July 1 to June 30. Renewal is required each year to remain active.

No lifetime membership
There is no concept of lifetime membership. Every member must renew on a yearly basis.
Governance structure
IMB carries two organizations in parallel: a Board of Directors and a Management Team. The Board consists of five (5) voting members, meets a minimum of four times per year, and elections are held every two years. One half of current voting members constitutes a quorum.
President
Highest executive officer
- Presides at all meetings of the organization
- Appoints all committees as directed
- Serves as chairman of the Executive Committee
- Cannot hold consecutive presidential terms
Vice President
Second-in-command
- Assists the President in all organizational duties
- Serves as President in the President's absence
- Member of the Executive Committee
Secretary
Records & correspondence
- Records proceedings of all Board & Executive meetings
- Conducts official correspondence of the organization
- Performs other duties assigned by President or Board
Treasurer
Finance & fiscal records
- Collects all dues and administers funds
- Maintains records for each fiscal year (Jul 1–Jun 30)
- Reports to the Board of Directors when required
- Performs other duties assigned by President or Board
Annual meeting & elections
The Annual Meeting shall be held each year in April and is open to the public. The Nominating Committee presents a single slate; additional nominations may be made from the floor with prior consent of each nominee.
April — Annual meeting held (open to public)
Members vote by simple majority to elect the Board of Directors and Officers from the presented slate.
May 1 — New term officially begins
The term of Board of Directors and Officers begins May 1 following the Annual Meeting and continues for two years.
Consecutive terms allowed — except for President
Directors may serve consecutive terms. The President position cannot be held by the same person for consecutive terms.
Vacancies filled by Board appointment
A vacancy is declared when a member resigns, dies, or fails to attend three consecutive meetings without due cause. The Board fills vacancies through appointment upon recommendation of the Nominating Committee.

Committees structure
The President appoints chairpersons and members of all standing and ad hoc committees. The President may serve as ex-officio member of all committees.
Membership issues
Oversees membership eligibility, renewals, fee structure, and member relations.
Finance
Monitors finances, budgets, and fiscal reporting obligations to the Board.
Nomination
Prepares the slate of Board and Officer candidates for each Annual Meeting.
Executive level
Handles executive-level issues. Other ad hoc committees formed as deemed necessary.
Funds, amendments & dissolution
- Funds & liability (Article 9)
No part of the organization’s funds shall benefit individual members or private persons, except for reasonable compensation for services rendered. The organization shall not carry on activities not permitted to a CRA-exempt organization.
- Dissolution (Article 11)
I Am Brampton may be dissolved at any general or special membership meeting by a resolution adopted by an affirmative two-thirds (2/3) vote of attending members, subject to the same notice requirements as amendments.
- Amendments (Article 10)
By-Laws may be amended at the Annual Meeting by a two-thirds (2/3) majority of attending members, provided that advanced notice of proposed amendments has been made available to all members.
Upon dissolution, after paying all liabilities, assets shall be disposed of exclusively toward a charitable, educational, religious, or scientific CRA-exempt organization as determined by the Board.
